HOLMES!

SHERLOCK HOLMES WAS AMAZING!!!!

1. I want to marry someone like him. His way of thinking is amazing. He's almost crazy, and I like it. I love his scenes when he deduces and analyzes his opponents -- the scenes where he sits and watches flies buzz around in a glass -- the scenes where he sits and analyzes Watson's future wife -- the scenes where he just keeps his intellectual cool in any situation. I love it.

A friend of mine hates this movie. He says Holmes is too much of an action hero in this film. I really don't think so. Sure, he's place in active situations, but the way he responds to them is in no way like the stereotypical action hero.

2. That time period was like the high life of the human ability. Everyone -- rich and poor -- was using every ounce of talent and thought and intelligence that they had. It's a romantic time.

3. The screenplay of this movie was dark. There was very little color in the whole thing. I love how moviemakers can create a habitat for viewers like that using just color, lighting, and camera motions. Costumes were also amazing, too.

4. Good casting. I wasn't totally distracted by how cute the male actors were, which is a problem I have in movies like Batman and Phantom of the Opera... Robert Downey Junior is an attractive fellow, but I was too busy listening to what HOLMES -- not Robert -- was doing and saying. That's wonderful.

5. Sequel? I hope so. But not right away. People need to relish this movie, first.

6. I should read these books... apparently they're amazing. I never really read a mystery novel before. Not like this one. Not with clues and deductive reasoning and non-omniscient perspective.
7. Sure wish he actually played the violin, though. Maybe next movie....

Two Good CDs...

1. Rob Thomas -- Cradlesong
An excellent combination of intriguing lyrics and a great musical setting. Rob Thomas speaks from the heart, almost conversationally, about things he cares about, like family and getting over trials. And there are just great tunes!! He has a way with influencing people without being overpowering. I'm loving "Give me the Meltdown," "Snowblind," and of course his singles "Her Diamonds" and "Someday." Good easy listening. Good car music. Good work music.

2. Killers -- Day and Age
I have this feeling of moving forward when I listen to this CD. It's very emotionally progressive. The sound of Brandon Flowers' voice and the almost placid melodies behind a hard rock sound is almost haunting and restless. Some people can listen to the Killers and get preoccupied. I can't. Killers -- particularly this CD -- takes up all parts of your brain, even parts we don't always use. I'm loving "Spaceman" and "This is Your Live" and of course "Dustland Fairytale." You should see them perform these songs live. Epic.
I just bought these shoes yesterday at wet seal for 32.50. I love them.

"Who's that chick that's rockin' kicks?"

Lucchese 1883 Mad Dog Goat Women's Boots

Noted to be similar to the ones used in Miley Cyrus's "Party in the USA" music video... Not quite the same but they're believably the same brand.

I think I should get into this cowboy boot thing. They're sturdy, comfy, and pretty legit vintage.

Burnsville

This shoe is from greatglam.com. The reason why I posted it on my blog (besides the fact that it's purple and it's got a loverly fringe) is because it's named Burnsville. That's my hometown. :D :D

Interesting football-shaped leather clutch purse....

Heels on a three-year-old?

Katie Holms doesn't see a problem with adourning her three-year-old daughter Suri in inch-heel shoes, but many health professionals say it could be detrimental to a growing toddler's development. The shoes can cause foot problems like bunions and bent toes in the future. Plus, kids that young have feet that just keep on growing, which can accelerate foot maladies. For me, the worst thing toddler heels can do is lead to accidents among toddlers still trying to get a feel for their balance.
Once in a while, it's fun to dress your girls up, but apparently this has gone on for a while.
I dunno, Katie.
What worries me more is the Starbucks cup in her hand.

Some Spring to her Step...

September 29, 2009

Helena Bonham Carter was seen wearing some interesting footwear when picking up her son last September.
Z-CoiL Pain Relief footwear is designed with a patented shock-absorption heel and a orthotic plate. Apparently it relieves foot and ankle pain through a new weight-distribution technology. I just think they look cool...

Here's a question: will people wear these for the health reasons, or just to look cool?

Shoedazzle.com

I really don't like Kim Kardashian almost at all, but she's developed this cool online shopping program where personal stylists design shoes for you on a monthly basis. The sampling I got to see was pretty darn cool.

here's the Link, if you're interested...

And of course here's the sampling... I'm really liking pretty much the whole top row.

Balenciaga and Shoe Art

I'll take this opportunity to tell you how much I appreciate it when people turn something with such a mundane purpose as keeping your feet covered into a work of art. Balenciaga does just this.
A slideshow of more amazing model pictures:

Some of their latest for Winter 2009:

Love the heels on this one...

Steve Madden Towwer Black Leather on sale $89.97

Lady Gaga Hello Kitty?

Don't quite know how I feel about these Hello Kitty shoes Gaga wore at a recent photoshoot. I love the style... but I wonder just how much farther she'll be able to get away with going.

Betsey Johnson Red Plaids...

I don't know about you, but Betsey Johnson's got me MAD FOR PLAID.

Check out these 4-inch heel boots. $188.

Some of her previous red plaid styles.... This pattern never gets old.

My favorite Ballin for Anna Sui

Check it out... an open-toed boot. Interesting. Totally defeats the purpose of "boot," but still looks great. I'd wear it.
Then again, I'd wear anything.
Purple is my favorite color, by the way. That's why I particularly like the Ballin' for Anna Sui line that's out this season.

Katy Perry

Let's talk Katy Perry, shall we?

Amazing platforms. Go to this link for the detail. It's worth it.

Some amazing boots... Katy Perry Style.
Right: Louboutons!!!

Classic red heels we adore.

Her custom designs: Disco Princess by Vans and her custom black-and-white Keds.

Apparently these are some of her favorites:
Javari sequins!!

She's often seen in Louboutin.

"Thinking of You" shoes by Giambattista.

I got these pics from http://soleenvie.com/shoeblog/tag/katy-perry/ -- yet another shoe blog of which I draw my best inspirations. The actual black shoes worn by Perry are now out of stock. Bummer.

Here they are in action. Everything about this outfit I love.

And, to top it off, she performs in a giant shoe. I love her.
