Concerning Readership...

Part of me wonders if it's a good idea to let people know this blog exists, because it's something I've had for a really REALLY long time and it's got lots of... well, interesting material in it. These days I only post when a certain stroke of genius philosophy comes on, but that often involves personal stories and stuff that maybe people don't need to know.

But here's the thing... I keep diaries.  Hard-core.  Not just my personal journal... I have books -- literally BOOKS -- full of song lyrics, journals for spiritual stuff, random notebooks with scribbles and ideas and such... why post a blog?

Well a blog can be read by others.  It's main purpose is to PUBLISH ideas.  And who better to read my ideas -- at least ones I find worth sharing -- with friends?

So yeah, I'm an interesting person with interesting thoughts.  But as I think I said in my last post, there's much more to me than this.  I'm learning in my multi-cultural education class right now that you can NEVER completely understand another person.  When I'm dead, you can read my written journals and then you'll get a better picture.

Learned:  How to tie a four-plait braid.
Listening to:  Nothing, but I have fracking "Cosi Fan Tutte" running through my head.  Again.  And again.
Blessings:  Gentlemen, bobby pins, and face masks.
Things Going On Today:  Dr. Staheli says "Lady Gaga" during class.  We actually get out of rehearsal before 11 o'clock.  And I fall asleep in chorale... again... much to the dismay of my sister.

A New Addition

I am adding a new addition to my signature on each of my posts.  I will call it "Things Learned" and basically it's an opportunity for me to acknowledge some of the things I learned that day.

I am beginning to understand myself more than ever.  And I'm beginning to realize what I truly value in life.  One of my biggest priorities, I've noticed, is gaining knowledge.  I always want to be learning something, so that one day I may be a genius.  And not just a genius in one thing; I want to know everything about everything.  I think this is a pretty righteous goal because I see God as the ultimate supergenius.  God knows EVERYTHING.  And I think his vast knowledge on every possible subject in the universe translates into ultimate power and control.  Ultimate wisdom.  Ultimate happiness.  So I think gaining knowledge on earth helps you become more like God.

I always knew I loved learning.  I have said over and over again that if I had the chance, I would go to school for the rest of my life.  Listen to lectures, take notes, read books, write papers, study stuff.  I feel like I learn best in a college environment, where people ask questions, discuss things, experiment.  But after talking to a friend of mine the other day at a ward picnic and I am beginning to realize that there are many ways to learn.  Sometimes you need to listen.  Sometimes you need to experience.  Sometimes you need to read.  Sometimes you need to think.  Sometimes you need to talk. I hope that, as a music teacher, I can continuously be learning from my students. Bottom line: It doesn't matter how you learn, the goal is to always be learning something.  So this is a chance for me, hopefully, to become more like God by pointing out the small moments in my life where I learned something... maybe even unexpectedly.

So here we go...

Listening to:  Lady Gaga interview on a Japanese Television Show
Things Going on Today:  Institute.  Mowed with a '48.  Went to Smith's with Alicia.
Blessings:  Ink bottles that open.  Sealing wax sold at BYU bookstore.  Cute institute teachers.
Things Learned:  I have a big mouth.  Laman and Lemuel had a lot of "lightswitch" spiritual experiences (see Elder Bednar's Talk from last conference...) but didn't learn anything from them.  I will be out of money by the year 2012.

Pages

I've created pages for my blog!  There are only two right now but I think they're pretty cool.

Wish List
This is stuff I someday wish I could have in my own two hands.  It may never happen, but I like to keep a running list of things like that anyway so one day, if I happen to have a bajillion dollars, I'll buy them.

Creepy
All this is is just a list of the scariest stuff on the planet.  View this page at your own risk.

I am so Sorry...

Dear Readership,
I apologize for not blogging yesterday.  I had quite the wild night....  Well, not really.  I just mingled with ward members all night at the eminent "game night" over at Academy Arms.  Game night is my one social outlet among other members in my ward.  It's a good flirting battle-ground.  Matter of fact, it was at Game Night where I actually met Mark.  Needless to say, it has done me good.

So pretend this is Sunday's post.  I'll post a Monday Post later today.

Listening to:  "If I Had You" by Adam Lambert
Blessings:  Three-Day Weekends, Clam Chowder, Grandparents who let me do their laundry at their place.
Things Going On Today:  No School, I clean ALL THE THINGS.

Two Choices...

So I've only had this blog up for a week and I already have 175 page views!  Wow.

It's a three-day weekend.  I have two options of things I can do today:

I can either do ALL THE HOMEWORK....

Or I can...

Listening To:  "Snow White" by Jaymay
Things Going on Today:  I see Katie tonight, I see Mark today.  I do one of the above two things.
Blessings:  Getting to sleep in, clementines (nom nom)

Okay. Let's try again...

So I've been blogging for a really long time. I have six or seven of them under my belt already. But with this new year (2011), I've spent some time contemplating on ways I could simplify my life, reach my goals, and simply enjoy my time on this earth more. The conclusion I came to was simple: I need to compact my digital life. Facebook, twitter, tumblr, email... and 7 blogs? It's been very complicated, confusing, and time-consuming. I had a blog for this, a blog for that, a blog about fashion, a blog about movies, a blog about me -- you get the idea. Without thinking, I could spend countless hours on these blogs, assuming that all were created equally and needed adequate shares of "posting love" every now and again. Well that mindset has changed, and here I am, consolidating all of those cool things together onto one ultra-blog. The blog completely about me and what I value. Other blogs will be put on the back-burner, occasionally browsed in search of gems but never again updated.
Why the title, you ask? I'll answer with a little mantra used by my friend Elder Anderson: "It seemed like a good idea at the time." Rainbows are fun. What the heck.

P.S. I've conglomerated my blogs on this one. Almost every entry I have ever posted has now been imported onto this blog. I think I will slowly work my way through those and post things I think should be kept. Then I will delete those blogs completely when finished and voila! Simplified life!

Blessings: Free broccoli from the ward, Book on Tape Worm practices in my living room, and having taken Music 202 last year so Art History 202 is that much easier.
Listening to: A mix of Parachute's "She Is Love" and Book On Tape Worm's "Pianocide." (BoTW is practicing just a few rooms away and I can hear them from here.)
Things Going on Today: Book On Tape Worm show tonight. It's a slumber party theme and I'm wearing my pajamas.
